By collaborating with different organisations in various areas of Europe, FundingBox actively participates in closing the distance and supporting up and coming economies - also known in the EU as the widening economies. These institutions include Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs), Universities, RTOs and many others. By working together, FundingBox is committed to inspire businesses and organisations to help them access technologies like: Internet of Things, Robotics, Photonics, Big Data etc. and resources that can fuel innovation and growth.

A prime example of this collaborative effort is Mayte Carracedo's participation in the 8th Forum of Advanced Technologies held in Niš, Serbia, on June 12, 2024. Mayte, representing FundingBox, delivered a presentation titled "How Companies Can Access Cutting-Edge Technologies from EU Projects."

Serbia's Technological Landscape

Serbia's technological landscape has been undergoing a significant transformation in recent years. The country has made considerable strides in developing its IT and tech infrastructure, attracting foreign investment, and fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem. This progress is evident in the growing number of tech companies, research institutions, and educational programs focused on emerging technologies.

Several factors have contributed to Serbia's technological advancement. The government has implemented policies that encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, such as tax incentives and funding programs. Additionally, Serbia has a young and well-educated population with a strong interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This talent pool has been instrumental in driving the growth of the tech sector.

The 8th Forum of Advanced Technologies

It wasn't just a conference, it was a collaborative effort spearheaded by the city of Niš and the Niš Science and Technology Park. This forum served as a platform for positioning Niš as a hub for advanced technology development. It brought together various stakeholders, including educational institutions, manufacturing companies, and relevant experts, to facilitate partnerships and economic growth. The forum's goals included:

  • Connecting academia and industry
  • Facilitating knowledge exchange
  • Supporting innovation
  • Encouraging economic development and career opportunities for young professionals

The forum featured various activities, including panel discussions, keynotes, presentations, workshops, and pitch sessions.

Mayte Carracedo's Presentation

Mayte's presentation focused on how companies outside of the EU, particularly those in Serbia, can leverage EU project funding and programmes to access advanced technologies. She specifically highlighted the Cascade Funding method, a simpler approach to applying for EU funds through Open Calls. These Open Calls were specifically chosen to be accessible to Serbian SMEs, making it easier for them to compete for funding and resources. Additionally, Mayte presented a tool that makes the whole process smoother - OnePass - funding and training gateway for European innovators, SMEs, StartUps and ScaleUps.

FundingBox, through its vast network of collaborators, plays a crucial role in connecting businesses with these opportunities. By providing guidance and support throughout the application process, FundingBox helps companies connect the dots between their technological needs and available EU resources.

FundingBox's Commitment to Collaboration

FundingBox's participation in the 8th Forum of Advanced Technologies exemplifies its commitment to promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing at the regional level. By working with various organisations, we are enabling businesses in widening economies to embrace innovation and achieve sustainable growth. FundingBox plays a vital role in connecting businesses with innovation development and resources, enabling them to innovate and thrive in the global economy.
